Think of concrete not as a single ingredient, but as a recipe where every component has a vital role. You have cement (the glue), sand (the fine filler), aggregate/gravel (the core strength), and water (the chemical activator). Achieving the perfect balance is everything.

For Small Jobs: The Art of Hand Mixing

For tasks like setting a fence post or making a small repair, hand-mixing is perfectly fine. But doing it right is key.

  • The Right Surface is Non-Negotiable: Never mix directly on the ground. The earth will suck water from your mix, weakening it from the start. Use a non-absorbent surface like a heavy-duty plastic mixing tub, a wheelbarrow, or a clean, hard-paved area.
